The quest for God is essentially the search for the full account and meaning of life. If we but had the power to take our soul from our body, put it in a crucible, and distill out the meaning of the quest, what would we find it to be? If we could but make the inmost heart of all humanity speak out its inmost yearnings, what would we discover them to be? Would we not find that every heart and mind and soul in creation desires fundamentally three realities and only three -- Life, Truth, and Love?
In fact, so deep are the these three realities. Being, Truth and Love, that we can say the whole universe overflows with them. Of each thing in the universe it can be said that it is. Of each thing in the universe it can be said that it is true, for it is related to a mind. Of each thing in the universe it can be said it is love, for it is related to a will and a desire.
We desire life and truth and love, but do we find them in their plenitude on this earth? Do we carry within ourselves the energy, the force, and the power to realize them to the highest degree? Are we such masters and captains of our fate that we may give to ourselves an overflowing measure of these most precious of all gifts? We possess a fraction of life, a fraction of truth, and a fraction of love, but do we possess them in their fullness?
Certainly life is not completely under our control. Successes of life are soon exhausted. Reputations wane and are forgotten. Schemes have their hour and come to naught. The science of one age is superseded by that of another. The taste of one age is unintelligible to be next. Poets become silent. Each tick of the clock brings us closer to the tomb; "our hearts are but muffled drums beating a funeral march to the grave." "From hour to hour we ripe; from hour to hour we rot and rot." Life may be a great torrent out-poured from the inexhaustible chalice of eternity, but we are permitted but a few drops of it in the cup of our own life.
And although truth is a condition of our nature, neither do we possess it in its fullness, for the more we study the less we know, or rather the less we think we know. Learning opens up a thousand new vistas of knowledge down which we might travel for a lifetime, if we had a thousands lives. What man is there who has devoted his life to study who will not honestly avow that he really knows less now than what he thought he knew the night he graduated from high school? How often, too, the search for the truth corrects the prejudices of youth, and how often earnest seekers after truth have come to mock and remain to pray?
Great minds like Newton have confessed that all their knowledge seemed to leave them standing on the seashore of the truth which stretched an ocean of infinite truth. Saint Thomas Aquinas, the greatest mind the world has ever produced, declared at the end of his life that all that he wrote seemed to him as straw compared to a vision which Divine Truth had accorded him.
Finally, love in its perfect state is not to be found in this world. Broken hearts, ruined homes, young widows,divorce courts, orphans -- all are so many eloquent proofs that man has not found a true and lasting love. Unfortunately, with the passing of time it often loses its delicacy. How rare, for example, is the young man who can treasure for days and for weeks and for years the gift of a rose or the touch of a hand of a friend. Quaff as he will the magic of love's wine and drink deep as he may of her springs, a day must finally come when the last cake is crumbled at life's great feast, and the last embrace is passed from friend to friend. The noblest and best of human love ends, and nothing is perfect that ends.
Through we are the lord and master of the universe, through we possess these strong yearnings, which are the very mainsprings of our beings, yet we do not find these yearnings fulfilled on this earth. Life is mingled with death; truth is mingled with error; and love is mingled with hate. Our life, then, is not in creatures; our truth, then, is not in the spoken word; our love, then, is not in what we see. Life cannot exist with death; truth cannot exist with error; and love cannot exist with hate..........But where find the source of these realities?........

FALSE PROPHET, THE -- a religious leader of the end times who along with the Dragon (the devil) and the Beast (Antichrist), forms an unholy trinity of evil that opposes Christ and His people.
Then from the jaws of dragon and beast and false prophet. I saw three foul spirits come; they look like frogs and in fact were demon spirits, able to work miracles, going out to all the kings of the world to call them together for the war of the Great Day of God the Almighty. - Rev. 16:13-14 -
The Book of Revelation speaks of two beasts - The Antichrist, - Rev. 13:1-10 - a political ruler who sets up an evil empire in opposition to the kingdom of God; and the false prophet, a religious leader inspired by Satan who deceives the world into worshiping the Antichrist. - Rev. 13:12-17 -
FALSE CHRIST are persons who pretend to be Christ but are actually representatives of all that Christ opposes. - Matt. 24:24; Mark 13:22 - False Christs are similar to Antichrist and his prophets. - 1John 2:18; 2John 7 - These false Christs take the place in the long line of false prophets who have existed since Old Testament days.
The Antichrist primary rule is deception, like the Satan in his attempts to undermine the work of God in the world. The work of Satan through the Antichrist is clearly rooted in the prophecies of Daniel 7:2-8, 11-12 and Rev. 13:1-4 -
But when the rebel comes, Satan will set to work, there will be all kinds of miracles and a deceptive show of signs and portents and everything evil that deceived those who are bound for destruction because they would not grasp the love of the truth which could have saved them. - 2Thess. 2:9-11 -
They will be overthrown by Christ and thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulphur.
But the beast was taken prisoner, together with the false prophet who had worked miracles on the beast's behalf and by them had deceived all who had been branded with the mark of the beast and worshipped his statue. These two were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulphur. All the rest were killed by the sword of the rider, which came out of his mouth, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh. - Rev. 19:20-21 -
Satan is later joined by the devil, beast and the false prophets, together they will be tormented day or night, forever and ever. Then the devil, who misled them, will be thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet are, and their torture will not stop, day or night, for ever and ever. - Rev. 20:10 -
Believers, like you and me are to stand firm in the faith and not to be deceived by the Antichrist who will display all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders and we are warned not to be misled by deceit. The times when the Antichrist appear, its will be very hard for the faithful. We need to be prepared and deal with this unsettling event.
I am astonished at the promptness with which you have turned away from the one who called you and have decided to follow a different version of the Good News. Not that there can be more than one Good News; it is merely that some troublemakers among you want to change the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ and let me warn you that if anyone preaches a version of the Good News different from the one we have already preached to you, whether it be ourselves or an angel from heaven, he is to be condemned. - Gal. 1:6-8 -
Brothers and Sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, the gospel that you received and in which you are firmly established;because the gospel will save you only if you keep believing exactly what I preached to you - believing anything else will not lead to anything. - 1Cor. 15:1-2 -

In the New Testament, Jesus said, 'Alas for you when the world speaks well of you'. This was the way their ancestors treated the false prophets. - Luke 6:26 -
He warned his disciples, Beware of false prophets who come to you disguised as sheep but underneath are ravenous wolves. You will be able to tell them by their fruits. Can people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? In the same way, a sound tree produces good fruit but a rotten tree bad fruit. A sound tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a rotten tree bear good fruit. Any tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown on the fire. I repeat, you will be able to tell them by their fruits. - Matthews 7:15-20 -
When speaking of the signs of the times and the end of the age. He said, Many false prophets will arise; they will deceive many and with the increase of lawlessness, love in most men will grow cold, but the man who stands firm to the end will be saved. - Matt. 24:11-13 -
If anyone says to you then, "Look here is the Christ" or "He is there" do not believe it, for false Christs and false prophets will arise and produce great signs and portents, enough to deceive even the chosen, if that were possible. There; I have forewarned you. - Matt. 24:23-24 -
The word of God is something alive and active: it cuts like any double-edged sword but more finely: it can slip through the place where the soul is divided from the spirit, or joints from the marrow; it can judge the secret emotions and thoughts. No created thing can hide from him; everything is uncovered and open to the eyes of the one to whom we must give account of ourselves. - Hebrews 4:12-13 -
From now onward, never let anyone else decide what you should eat or drink, or whether you are to observe annual festivals, New Moon or sabbaths. These were only pale reflections of what was coming: the reality is Christ. Do not be taken in by people who like grovelling to angels and worshipping them, people like that are always going on about some vision they have had, inflating themselves to a false importance with their worldly outlook. - Colossians 2:16-18 -
Avoid futile and silly speculations, understanding that they only give rise to quarrel; and a servant of the Lord is not to engage in quarrels, but has to be kind to everyone, a good teacher and patient! He has to be gentle when he corrects people who despite what he says, never forgetting that God may give them a change of mind so that they recognize the truth and come to their senses, once out of the trap where the devil caught them and kept them enslaved. - 2Tim. 2:23-26 -
I implore you, brothers, be on your guard against anybody who encourage trouble or puts difficulties in the way of the doctrine you have been taught. Avoid them. People like that are not slaves of the Lord Jesus Christ; they are slaves of their own appetites, confusing the simple minded with their pious and persuasive arguments. - Romans 16:17-18 -
Take care not to be deceived. - Luke 21:8 -
Examine yourselves to make sure you are in the faith: test yourselves. Do you acknowledge that the Lord Jesus Christ is really in you? - 2Cor. 13:5 -

FALSE PROPHETS are those who falsely claim to utter revelations that come from God, to foretell future events, or to have God's power to produce miracles, signs and wonders. In the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible, false prophets fell into three general categories:
( 1 ) those who worshiped false gods and served idols;
( 2 ) those who falsely claimed to receive messages from the Lord;
( 3 ) those who wandered from the truth and ceased to be true prophets.
In the Old Testament, Moses spoke of the punishment of those who betrayed the faith. He ordered that any prophet who advocated the worship of other gods be stoned to death. - Duet. 13:1-8 - During the reign of King Ahab of Israel, false prophets were officially approved by Ahab and his queen, Jezebel. - 1 Kings - speaks of the "four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table". - 1Kings 18:19 -
Later four hundred false prophets spoke words they knew Ahab, the king wanted to hear and assured him of victory at Ramoth Gilead. Micaiah, the true prophet, who warned Ahab of defeat and disaster, was put in prison on a diet of bread and water. - 1Kings 22:1-28 -
A recurring characteristic of the false prophets is that they often are found in the employment of the powerful and that they are careful to speak pleasing, positive and flattering words to their employers, and everything and anything that they are benefiting, for themselves.
Jeremiah, the true prophet condemned the false prophets who were always saying, "Peace, peace" when there was no peace. - Jer. 6:14 - Prophet Jeremiah said, "The prophets prophesy falsely......." - Jer. 5:31 - Even though Jeremiah was a true prophet of the Lord, the false prophets were rewarded by the king, and Jeremiah was cast into a dungeon. - Jer. 38:6 -

A recurring characteristic of the false prophets is that they often are found in the employment of the powerful and that they are careful to speak pleasing, positive and flattering words to their employers, and everything and anything that they are benefiting, for themselves.
Jeremiah, the true prophet condemned the false prophets who were always saying, "Peace, peace" when there was no peace. - Jer. 6:14 - Prophet Jeremiah said, "The prophets prophesy falsely......." - Jer. 5:31 - Even though Jeremiah was a true prophet of the Lord, the false prophets were rewarded by the king, and Jeremiah was cast into a dungeon. - Jer. 38:6 -

PROPHET is a person who spoke for God and who communicated God's message courageously to peoples. Prophets were referred to as messengers of the Lord. - Haggai 1:13 -
Except for God's call, prophets had no qualifications. They appeared from all walks of life and classes of society. A prophetic call was a call to liberty and freedom to be oneself. - John 8:31-32 -
Some prophets were called for a lifetime. But sometimes prophets spoke briefly and no more. In either case, a prophet spoke with authority of the Holy Spirit. One trait characterized them all: a faithful proclamation of God's word and not their own.
Many scholars deny that prophecy includes the prediction of future events, but fulfillment was in fact, the test of a prophet's genuineness, regardless of the time of fulfillment, the prophet's message applied to his generation as well as to ours.
Moses went out and told the people what Yahweh had said. Then he gathered seventy elders of the people and brought them round the Tent. Yahweh came down in the Cloud. He spoke with him, but took some of the spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. When the spirit came to them they prophesied, but not again.
Two men had stayed back in the camp; one was called Eldad and the other Medad. The spirit came down on them; though they had not gone to the Tent, their names were enrolled among the rest. These began to prophesy in the camp. The young man ran to tell this to Moses, 'Look, he said 'Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp. Then said Joshua the son of Nun, who had served Moses from his youth, 'My Lord Moses, stop them!' Moses answered him, 'Are you jealous on my account? If only the whole people of Yahweh were prophets, and Yahweh gave his Spirit to them all!' - Numbers 11:24-29 -
Yahweh Sabaoth says this:
Do not listen to what those prophets say:
they are deluding you,
they retail visions of their own,
and not what comes from the mouth of Yahweh; - Jer. 23:16; Ezek. 13:2 - (false prophets)
The man who does not listen to my words that he speaks in My name, shall be held answerable to Me for it. But the prophet who presumes to say in My name a thing I have not commanded him to say, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.
You may say in your heart, "how are we to know what word was not spoken by Yahweh?" When a prophet speaks in the name of Yahweh and the thing does not happen and the word is not fulfilled, then it has not been spoken by Yahweh. The prophet has spoken with presumption. You have nothing to fear from him. - Deut. 18:19-22 -
For what I have spoken does not come from myself,
no, what I was to say, what I had to speak,
was commanded by the Father who sent me,
and I know that his commands mean eternal life.
And therefore what the Father has told me
is what I speak. - John 12:49-50 -
While I should like you all to have the gift of tongues, I would much rather you could prophesy, since the man who prophesies is of greater importance than the man with the gift of tongues, unless of course the latter offers an interpretations so that the church may get some benefit. - 1Cor. 14:5 -

PROPHECY -- special messages from God, often uttered through human spokesmen, which indicate the divine will for mankind on earth and in heaven.
Prophecy was technically the task of the prophet. But all truth or revelation is prophetic. The full panorama of God's will takes many forms; it may be expressed through people, events and objects. Historical events such as the PASSOVER anticipated Jesus Christ, as did various objects in the tabernacle, including MANNA and the inner VEIL.
The next day, seeing Jesus coming towards him, John said, 'Look there is the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. - John 1:29 -
Our fathers had manna to eat in the desert; as scripture says: He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Jesus answered:
'I tell you most solemnly,
it was not Moses who gave you bread from heaven,
it is my Father who gives you the bread from heaven,
the true bread;
for the bread of God
is that which comes down from heaven
and gives life to the world'.
Sir, 'they said' give us that bread always,' Jesus answered:
I am the bread of life.
He who comes to me will never be hungry;
he who believes in me will never thirst. - John 6:31-35 -
At that, the veil of the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom; - Matt. 27:51 -
In other words, brothers, through the blood of Jesus we have the right to enter the sanctuary, by a new way which he has opened for us, a living opening through the curtain, that is to say, his body. - Heb. 10:19-20 -
The focus of all prophetic truth is the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ fully radiated the brilliance of God which the earlier prophets reflected only partially.
At various times in the past and in various different ways, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets; but in our own time, the last days, he has spoken to us through his Son, the Son that he has appointed to inherit everything and through whom he made everything there is. - Heb. 1:1-3 -
Then he said to them, You foolish men! So slow to believe the full message of the prophets! Was it not ordained that the Christ should suffer and so enter into glory? Then, starting with Moses and going through all the prophets, he explained to them the passages throughout the scriptures that were about himself. - Luke 24:25-27 -

In the Old and New Testaments, truth is a fundamental moral and personal quality of God. God proclaimed that He is "merciful and gracious, patient and long suffering, and abounding in goodness and truth". - Ex. 34:6 - He is a "God of truth....without injustice". - Duet. 32:4 -
All of His paths are "mercy and truth". Frequently in the psalms, God's mercy and His truth are joined together. All of God's works, precepts, and judgments are done in righteousness and truth. The psalmist declared, "Your law is truth", "all Your commandments are truth" and "the entirety of Your word is truth". - Psalms 25:10, 57:3, 89:14, 115:1, 96:13, 111:8, 119:142, 119:151, 119:160 -
Truth is a moral and personal characteristic of God: He is "the God of truth". - Isaiah 65:16 - Because of His perfect nature and will, God has to speak and act in truth; He cannot lie. In the same way, when God wanted to make the heirs to the promise thoroughly realise that His purpose was unalterable, He conveyed this by an oath; so that there would be two unalterable things in which it was impossible for God to be lying, and so that, now we have found safety, should have a strong encouragement to take a firm grip on the hope that is held out to us. - Hebrews 6:17-18 -
Make no mistake about this, my dear brothers; it is all that is good, everything that is perfect, which is given us from above; it comes down from the Father of all light; with Him there is no such thing as alteration, no shadow of a change. By His own choice he made us His children by the message of the truth so that we should be a sort of the first-fruits of all that He had created. - James 1:16-18 -
Jesus is the Word of God who became flesh, "the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth". All Jesus said was truth, because He told the truth which He heard from God. He promised His disciples that He would send "the Spirit of truth" - a Helper/ an Advocate who would abide in Christians forever, testify about Jesus, guide Christians into all truth and glorify Jesus. - John 1:14, 8:40, 14:16-17, 15:26, 16:13-14 -
God is truth; the Spirit is truth; and Jesus is truth. The Lord Jesus Christ said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me. - John 14:6 - Jesus and the revelation which the Spirit of truth gave through His apostles are the final, ultimate revelation and definition of truth about God, man, redemption, history and the world.
Indeed, from his fullness we have, all of us, received -
yes, grace in return for grace,
since, though the Law was given through Moses,
grace and truth have come through Jesus Christ. - John 1:16-17 -
