Nothing is more interesting in our social scene than to see how often those who boast of an "open mind" end with a closed one. People with an infernal pride will sometimes take the lowest places in order to attract attention; so often those who boast that their minds are in a state of suspension until they find truth are often those who are most impervious to it. The open mind is commendable when it is open like a road that leads to a city which is its destination. But the open mind is condemnable when it is like an abyss or a manhole. Those who boast of their open-mindedness are invariably those who love to search for truth but not to find it; they love the chase but not the capture; they admire the footprints of truth, but not catching up with it. They go through life talking about "widening the horizons of truth" but without ever seeing the sun.

The discovery of truth can be very embarrassing. For example, to awaken at night to discover that we are really very selfish and egotistic. Truth brings with it great responsibilities; that is why so many keep their hands open to welcome it, but never close them to grasp it. The real thinker who is willing to embrace a truth at all costs generally has double price to pay - first, isolation from current opinion or the mass mind. Any one who arrives at the moral conclusion that divorce prepares the way for the breakdown of civilization must be prepared to be ostracized by the Herods and the Salomes of this world. Non-conformity with the mass mind can be expected to bring down the offender's head opposition and ridicule. Second, those who discover a truth must stand naked before the uplifted stroke of its duties or else take up the cross that it imposes.

These two effects of embracing truth, one negative which is opposition, the other positive, which is the burden of the new idea, make many people fearful. In their cowardice, they keep their minds "open" so they will never have to close on anything that would entail responsibility, duty, moral correction or altered behaviour.

This is the reason. The "open" mind does not want truth because truth implies duty. A farmer's son will avoid passing the woodpile because he knows if he passes it,he ought to bring in some firewood to his mother. That truth creates a duty which he wishes to avoid. Responsibility is the one thing the "open mind" is most anxious. Avoiding truth is only negative; people cannot long endure in that attitude. So they seek about for something which will completely relieve them from responsibility. The avoidance of responsibility, though, only results in tyranny, the abdication of one's free will to another, whether it be to an ideology or a dictator. The only real solution is for those with "open minds" to close on truth, even though it does involve a change in behaviour, for ultimately it is truth, and only truth, which can make them free.

Above all, the cross is the decisive eschatological event. In it the curse and punishment that brought God's wrath was reversed. ever since, God has been progressively accomplishing His judgment against the forces of wickedness in heaven and earth. God's Redeemer will reign until He defeats His enemies. As He returns to begin the final preparations for His reign. He will gather the ELECT to Himself. The redeemed will be evaluated by the Lord and will receive their reward of eternal life. Thus, the Abrahamic covenant fulfilled, all earthly distinctions eliminated and God's people will live in eternal fellowship with the Father and His Christ.

Yahweh's oracle to you, my Lord, 'Sit at my right hand
and I will make your enemies a footstool for you'. - Psalm 110:1 -

For David himself never went up to heaven and yet these words are his:
The Lord said to my Lord
Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for you.
'For this reason the whole House of Israel can be certain that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ'. - Acts 2:34-36 -

That water is a type of the baptism which saves you now and which is not the washing off of physical dirt but a pledge made to God from a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has entered heaven and is at God's right hand, now that he has made the angels and Dominations and Powers his subjects. - 1Peter 3:21-22 - Matt. 22:44; Heb. 1:13, 8:1, 10:12-13 -

The point of eschatology throughout the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible is to provide encouragement to believers in their witness for the Lord Jesus Christ

This Good News of the kingdom will be proclaimed to the whole world as a witness to all the nations. And then the end will come. - Matt. 24:14 -

Never give in then, my dear brothers, never admit defeat; keep on working at the Lord's work always, knowing that, in the Lord, you cannot be labouring in vain. - 1Cor. 15:58 -

It is not mentioned to encourage idle speculation or controversy. The reason God grants us a view of the future is to encourage us to witness for Christ and serve Him in the present.

Because God elected that some people would be saved in the day of His judgment, a saving event became necessary. This event is broadly defined as the seed of the woman - Gen. 3:15 - which began the long process of conflict through which God introduced the Saviour into the world.

Eschatology shows how God's redeemer will establish His kingdom upon a rebellious earth. The long process through which God selected a righteous group to serve Him on earth came to a climax in the person of Christ. He is indeed "God with us" - Matt. 1:23 - This phrase from Isaiah 7:14 spoke of God's presence in Jesus in order to save and to judge. - Is. 9:6-7, 8:6-8, 7:17 -

Christ's first coming was to save. - Mark 10:45 - His second coming will be primarily to judge. But His return will also spell relief to His faithful REMNANT. Eschatology shows that God's presence for the redeemed will be fully realized at Jesus' return, when He will dwell among all the redeemed in the new heaven and earth.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now and there was no longer any sea. I saw the holy city and the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, as beautiful as a bride all dressed for her husband. Then I heard a loud voice call from the throne, You see this city? Here God lives among men. he will make his home among them; they shall be his people and he will be their God; his name is God-with-them. he will wipe away all tears from their eyes; there will be no more death and no more mourning or sadness. The world of the past has gone.

Then the One sitting on the throne spoke: 'Now I am making the whole world of creation new' he said, 'Write this; that what I am saying is sure and will come true.' And then he said, 'It is already done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give water from the well of life free to anybody who is thirsty; it is the rightful inheritance of the one who proves victorious; and I will be his God and he a son to me. But the legacy for cowards, for those who break their word, or worship obscenities, for murderers and fornicators, and for fortune-tellers, idolaters or any other sort of liars, is the second death in the burning lake of sulphur.' - Rev. 21:1-8 -

In the end times, a basic order of judgment will prevail as the conflict between God and Satan comes to an end. There will be a time of great TRIBULATION, followed by the SECOND COMING.

And Jesus answered them, Take care that no one deceives you; because many will come using my name and saying, "I am the Christ", and they will deceive many .......... ...................................... but the man who stands firm to the end will be saved. This Good News of the kingdom will be proclaimed to the whole world as a witness to all the nations. And then the end will come.

'So when you see the disastrous abomination, of which the prophet Daniel spoke, set up in the Holy Place'. (let the reader understand) .............................
If anyone says to you then, "Look, here is the Christ" or, "He is there", do not believe it; for false Christs and false prophets will arise and produce great signs and portents, enough to deceive even the chosen, if that were possible.
There; I have forewarned you.................................................

Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, the moon will lose its brightness, the stars will fall from the sky and the powers of heaven will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven; then too all the peoples of the earth will beat their breasts; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet to gather his chosen from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. - Matt. 24:4-31 -

The Last Judgment. The Day of the Lord will reverse the curse and punishment upon the world by bringing to all of God's enemies. The world will be judged by fire - Is. 66:16 - and all nations will be included in this judgment - Amos 1:3, 2:3 -; Ezek. 25:1-17 - When the Lord spoke of the judgment of the people living at His arrival He pictured humanity as sheep or goats who inherit either everlasting punishment or ETERNAL LIFE. This concept of separation is expressed also through the figures of reaping harvest and sorting out the good and the bad catch from a fishing net.

When the Son of Man comes in his glory, escorted by all the angels, then he will take his seat on his throne of glory. All the nations will be assembled before him and he will separate men from another as the shepherd separates sheep from goats. He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right hand, Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take for your heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world .......................................................................the virtuous to eternal life. - Matt. 25:31-46 -

The parable of the darnel explained. Parables of the treasure and of the pearl.
Again the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea that brings in a haul of all kinds. When it is full, the fishermen haul it ashore; then, sitting down, they collect the good ones in a basket and throw away those that are no use. This is how it will be at the end of time: the angels will appear and separate the wicked from the just to throw them into the blazing furnace where there will be weeping and grinding teeth. - Matt. 13:36-50 - Rev. 14:14-20 -

Another judgment is portrayed in Revelation 20 and those who are judged will be thrown into the lake of fire if their names are not found in the Book of Life. This judgment is called the second death.

Then I saw a great white throne and the One who was sitting on it. In his presence, earth and sky vanished leaving no trace. I saw the dead, both great and small, standing in front of his throne, while the book of life was opened, and other books opened which were the record of what they had done in their lives by which the dead were judged.

The sea gave up all the dead who were in it.; Death and Hades were emptied of the dead that were in them; and every one was judged according to the way in which he had lived. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the burning lake. This burning lake is the second death; and anybody whose name could not be found written in the book of life was thrown into the burning lake. - Rev. 20: 11-15 -

The judgments of God at the end of history are preceded by resurrections of the just - Rev. 20:6 - and the unjust - John 5:29; Rev. 20:5 - Two specific resurrections are mentioned in the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible. These will be separated by an interval of 1,000 years. - Daniel 12:2-3; Rev. 20:1-6 -

Abraham's Offspring. The idea of blessing and cursing or punishment by God is further seen through various events in the life of Abraham and his offspring, Israel. Plagues sent by God on Egypt in Abraham's time - Gen. 12:17 - foreshadowed the plagues under Moses - Exodus chapter 7 to 12 - and the end-time plagues of the book of Revelation chapter 8 to 10.

The Lamb then broke the seventh seal and there was silence in heaven for about half an hour..............................The first blew his trumpet, and with that, hail and fire, mixed with blood, were dropped on the earth; a third of the earth was burnt up, and a third of all trees, and every blade of grass was burnt. The second angel blew his trumpet, and it was as though a great mountain, all on fire, had been dropped into the sea: a third of the sea turned into blood, a third of all the livings in the sea were killed.............................................................................It was by these three plagues, the fire, the smoke and the sulphur coming out of their mouths, that the one third of the human race was killed.......

But the rest of the human race, who escaped these plagues, refused either to abandon the things they had made with their own hands - the idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood that can neither see or hear nor move - or to stop worshipping devils. Nor did they give up their murdering, or witchcraft, fornication or stealing...............Then the angel that I had seen, standing on the sea and the land, raised his right hand to heaven, and swear by the One who lives forever and ever, and made heaven and all that is in it, and earth and all it bears, and the sea and all it holds. The time of waiting is over, at the time when the seventh angel is heard sounding his trumpet, God's secret intention will be fulfilled, just as he announced in the Good News told to his servants the prophets...... Then I was told, 'You are to prophesy again, this time about many different nations and countries and emperors.' - Revelation chapter 8, 9, 10 -

The enemies from Mesopotamia who captured Lot and were destroyed by Abraham - Gen. 14:1-17 - foreshadowed God's punishment and destruction of Assyria and Babylon at the end of Israel's period of captivity - Is.13-14; Dan. 5:13-31 - and the end-time punishment and destruction of the pagan people represented by Babylon. - Rev. chapter 17, 18, 19, 20 -

Other fore-shadowing of the wrath of the Day of the Lord are the downfall of Jericho with its seven trumpets, which announced the presence of God above the ark - Jos. 6:13 - and the seven trumpet judgments of the book of Revelation. - Rev. 8:2-21; 11:15-19 - These various punishments and destruction of Israel's enemies looked toward the final destruction of all God's enemies in the Day of the Lord. Jesus' casting out of demons - Mark 5:29; Luke 8:31 - also foreshadowed God's judgment on fallen angels and who will be cast out in the day of the Lord. - Jude 6; 2Peter 2:4 -

When the thousand years are over. Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive all the nations in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, and mobilise them for war. His armies will be as many as the sands of the sea; they will come swarming over the entire country and besiege the camp of the saints, which is the city that God loves. But the fire will come down on them from heaven and consume them. Then the devil, who misled them, will be thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet are, and their torture will not stop, day or night, forever and ever. - Rev. 20:7-10 -

In the end times, a basic order of judgment...................

God's Covenant with Abraham. The end of history is focused on the fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham. - Genesis chapter 17 - Now this is my Covenant which you are to maintain between myself and you, and your descendants after you: all your males must be circumcised. You shall circumcise your foreskin and this shall be the sign of the Covenant between myself and you. - Gen 7:10-11 - The Abrahamic covenant is specific in its explanation of how conflict will end in the Day of the Lord. God promised to give Abraham a land and a lineage. These two items, the result of God's blessing of Abraham, are the blessings promised the Hebrew people. - Gen. 12:1-3 -

It is a good thing to be circumcised if you keep the Law; but if you break the Law, you might as well have stayed uncircumcised.........................The real Jew is the one who is inwardly a Jew and the real circumcision is in the heart - something not of the letter but of the spirit. A Jew like that may not be praised by man, but he will be praised by God. - Romans 2:23-29 -

Is this happiness meant only for the circumcised or is it meant for others as well? Think of Abraham again: his faith, we say, was considered as justifying him, but when was this done? When he was already circumcised or before he had been circumcised? It was before he had circumcised, not after; and when he was circumcised later it was only as a sign and guarantee that the faith he had before his circumcision justified him. In this way Abraham became the ancestor of all uncircumcised believers, so that they too might be considered righteous; and ancestor, also, of those who though circumcised do not rely on that fact alone, but follow our ancestor Abraham along the path of faith he trod before he had been circumcised. Rom. 4:9-12 -

What began as a small national boundary for a small group (the Jews) became international in scope, including all races. Eschatology reveals that Abraham's land, ultimately is the new heaven and earth and that Abraham's lineage is the redeemed community in Christ.

In fact, all the prophets that have ever spoken, from Samuel onward, have predicted these days.
'You are the heirs of the prophets, the heirs of the covenant God made with our ancestors when he told Abraham: in your offspring all the families of the earth will be blessed. It was for you in the first place that God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways. Acts 3:24-26 -

Abraham was also promised by God that those who blessed him would be blessed and those cursed him would be cursed. - Gen. 12:3 - In eschatology this interplay between blessings and curse, and punishment, depends on how people respond to God's work, and ultimately through His work in Christ. Heaven is the ultimate blessing. Hell is the ultimate punishment and curse.

The universal Flood of Noah's time was an expression of God's hatred and judgment of sin. In this event, He plunged His creation back to its original state of darkness and chaos with the waters covering the deep. Then He began again with a new head of the human race - His servant Noah. Although this particular act of God's wrath will not be repeated, the reminders of His judgment are still present in the rainbow and the creatures' fear of humans.

The flood lasted forty days on the earth. The waters swelled, lifting the ark until it was raised above the earth. The waters rose and swelled greatly on the earth and the ark sailed on the waters. The waters rose more and more on the earth so that all the highest mountains under the whole of heaven were submerged. The waters rose fifteen cubits higher, submerging the mountains. And so all things of flesh perished that moved on the earth, birds, cattle, wild beasts, everything that swarms on the earth and every man. Everything with the breath of life in its nostrils died, everything on dry land. Yahweh destroyed every living thing on the earth, man and animals, reptiles, and the birds of heaven. He rid the earth of them so that only Noah was left and those with him in the ark. The waters rose on the earth for a hundred and fifty days. - Gen. 7:17-24 -

The new world order
God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, Be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth. Be the terror and the dread of all the wild beasts and all the birds of heaven, of everything that crawls on the ground and all the fish of the sea; they are handed over to you. Every living and crawling thing shall provide food for you, no less than the foliage of plants. I give you everything, with this exception: you must not eat flesh with life, that is to say blood, in it. I will demand an account of your life-blood. I will demand an account from every beast and from man. I will demand an account of every man's life from his fellow men.

He who sheds man's blood,
shall have his blood shed by man,
for in the image of God
man was made.

'As for you, be fruitful, multiply, teem over the earth and be lord of it.' God spoke to Noah and his sons, 'See I establish my Covenant with you, and with your descendants after you; also with every living creature to be found with you, birds, cattle and every wild beast with you: everything that came out of the ark, everything that lives on the earth. I establish my Covenant with you: no thing of flesh shall be swept away again by the waters of the flood. There shall be no flood to destroy the earth again.'

God said, 'Here is the sign of the Covenant I make between myself and you and every living creature with you for all generations: I set my bow in the clouds and it shall be a sign of the Covenant between me and the earth. When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds. I will recall the Covenant between myself and you and every living creature of every kind. And so the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all things of flesh. When the bow is in the clouds I shall see it and call to mind the lasting Covenant between God and every living creature of every kind that is found on the earth.'
God said to Noah, 'This is the sign of the Covenant I have established between myself and every living thing that is found on the earth.' - Gen. 9:1-17 -

The Flood became a sign of the future wrath of God which would take place by fire. The first heaven and earth will eventually fall away and be replaced with the new heaven and earth. This falling away will be a violent burning of the universe. Jesus Himself thus define the end-time judgment of His return in terms of the Flood and Noah's generation.

We must be careful to remember that during the last days there are bound to be people who will be scornful, the kind who always please themselves what they do, and they will make fun of the promise and ask, 'Well, where is the coming? Everything goes on as it has since the Fathers died, as it has since it began at the creation.'
They are choosing to forget that there were heavens at the beginning and that the earth was formed by the word of God out of water and between the waters, so that the world of that time was destroyed by being flooded by water. But by the same word, the present sky and earth are destined for fire and are only being reserved until judgment day so that all sinners may be destroyed.

But there is one thing, my friends, that you must never forget: that with the Lord 'a day' can mean a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord is not being slow to carry out his promises, as anybody else might be called slow; but he is being patient with you all, wanting nobody to be lost and everybody to be brought to change his ways. The Day of the Lord will come like a thief and then with a roar the sky will vanish, the elements will catch fire and fall apart, the earth and all that it contains will be burnt up.

Since everything is coming to an end like this, you should be living holy and saintly lives while you wait and long for the Day of God to come, when the sky will dissolve in flames and the elements melt in the heat. What we are waiting for is what he promised: the new heaven and earth, the place where righteousness will be at home. So then, my friends, while you are waiting, do your best to live lives without spot or stain so that he will find you at peace. - 2Peter 3:3-14 -

Be on the alert
As it was in Noah's day, so will it be when the Son of Man comes. For in those days before the Flood people were eating, drinking, taking wives, taking husbands, right up to the day Noah went into the ark and they suspected nothing till the Flood came and swept all away. It will be like this when the Son of Man comes. Then of two men in the field one is taken, one left; of two women at the millstone grinding, one is taken, one left.

So stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming. You may be quite sure of this that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglar would come, he would have stayed awake and would not have allowed anyone to break through the wall of his house. Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. - Matt. 24:37-44 -

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!
