Humility refers to as being humble and a freedom from arrogance that grows out of the recognition that all we have and comes from God. The Greek philosophers despised humility because it implied inadequacy, lack of dignity and worthlessness to them. This not the meaning of humility as defined by the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible. Jesus Christ is the supreme example of humility.
Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. - Matt. 11:29 -
For the Son of Man himself did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. - Mark 10:45 -
...and he got up from the table removed his outer garment and taking a towel wrapped it round his waist, he then poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples feet and to wipe them with the towel he was wearing.......Jesus replied, 'If I do not wash you, you can have nothing in common with me'.........'Do you understand' he said what I have done to you? You call me Master and Lord, and rightly; so I am. If I, the Lord and Master, have washed your feet, you should wash each other feet. I have given you an example so that you may copy what I have done to you.
I tell you most solemnly,
no servant is greater than his master,
no messenger is greater than the man who sent him.
Now that you know this, happiness will be yours if you behave accordingly. - John 13:4-17 -
There must be no competition among you, no conceit; but everybody is to be self-effacing. Always consider the other person to be better than yourself so that nobody thinks of his own interests first but everybody thinks of other people's interest instead. In your minds you must be the same as Christ Jesus;
His state was divine,
yet he did not cling
to his equality with God
but emptied himself
to assume the condition of a slave
and became as men are,
he was humbler yet - Phil. 2:3-7 -
Jesus is completely adequate and of infinite dignity and worth. Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible humility is not a belittling of oneself but an exalting or praising of others especially God and Christ. A humble person then focuses more on God and others than on himself and herself.
In the light of the grace I have received I want to urge each one among you not to exaggerate his real importance. - Rom. 12:3 -
There must be no competition among you, no conceit; but everybody is to be self-effacing. - Phil. 2:3 -
True humility does not produce pride but gratitude. Since God is both our Creator and Redeemer, our existence and righteousness depend on Him.
I am the vine
you are the branches.
Whoever remains in me, with me in him,
bears fruit in plenty;
for cut off from me you can do nothing. - John 15:5 -

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!
I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.
HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-15 -
