In the New Testament, fellowship not only mean sharing things in common with others, it has a distinctly spiritual meaning. Fellowship can be either positive or negative.

The only reason why Christians dare to have fellowship with God, in the sense of sharing things in common with Him, is that He has raised our status through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. What believers share in common with God is a relationship as well as God's fellowship with Christ should enjoy fellowship with others believers. This fellowship ought to illustrate the very nature of God Himself. Positively, Christians have fellowship with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

When the Advocate (Holy Spirit) comes,
whom I shall send to you from the Father,
the Spirit of truth who issues from the Father,
he will be my witness.
And you too will be witnesses,
because you have been with me from the outset. - John 15:26-27 -

I have told you all this
so that your faith may not be shaken. - John 16:1 -

If our life in Christ means anything to you, if love can persuade at all, or the Spirit that we have in common or any tenderness and sympathy, then be united in your convictions and united in your love, with a common purpose and a common mind. That is the one thing which would make me completely happy. - Phil. 2:1-2 -

What we have seen and heard
we are telling you
so that you too may be in union with us,
as we are in union
with the Father
and with his Son Jesus Christ.
If we say that we are in union with God
while we are living in darkness,
we are lying because we are not living the truth.
But if we live our lives in the light,
as he is in the light,
we are in union with one another. - 1John 1:3,6-7 -

These remained faithful to the teaching of the apostles, to the brotherhood, to the breaking of bread and to the prayers. - Acts 2:42 -

Do not behave in the way that you liked to before you learnt the truth; make a habit of obedience: be holy in all you do since it is the Holy One who has called you, and scripture says: Be holy, for I am holy. - 1Peter 1:14-15 -

I give you a new commandment:
love one another;
just as I have loved you,
you also must love one another.
By this love you have for one another,
everyone will know that you are my disciples. - John 13:34-35 -

Negatively, believers should not have fellowship with unbelievers. This mean they should not share in unbelievers' sinful lifestyles. This does not completely mean, however, that believers should have nothing to do with unbelievers. The Sacred Scripture/ Holy Bible plainly teaches that Christian are obligated to share the Gospels with unbelievers so that they, through the grace of God, our Lord, may becomes believer as well.

Jesus said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, make disciples of all the nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time. - Matt. 28:18-20 -

Any constraint that you feel is not on our side; the constraint is in your own selves. I speak as if to children of mine: as a fair exchange, open your minds in the same way. Do not harness yourselves in an uneven team with unbelievers. Virtue is no companion for crime. Light and darkness have nothing in common. Christ is not the ally of Beliar nor has a believer anything to share with an unbeliever. The temple of God has no common ground with idols and that is what we are - the temple of the living God. We have God's word for it: I will make my home among them and live with them; I will be their God and they shall be my people. Then come away from them and keep aloof, says the Lord. Touch nothing that is unclean and I will welcome you and be your father and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Almighty Lord. - 2Cor. 6:12-18 -

Not that I do boast of preaching the gospel, since it is a duty which has been laid on me; I should be punished if I did not preach it! If I had chosen this work myself, I might have been paid for it but as I have not, it is a responsibility which has been put into my hands. Do you know what my reward is? It is this; in my preaching, to be able to offer the Good News free and not insist on the rights which the gospel gives me. - 1Cor. 9:16-18 -

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!

I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.

HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-15 -

God bestows more consideration on the purity of intention with which our actions are performed than on the actions themselves - Saint August...
