The red fluid circulating in the body that takes nourishment to the body parts and carries away waste is called 'Blood'. The word blood is often used literally in Scripture. Sometimes the word refers to the blood of animals - Gen. 37:31 - at other times it refers to human blood - 1Kin. 22:35 - The word is also used figuratively in the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible. It may mean 'blood red' - Joel 2:31 - or 'murder' - Then Pilate saw that he was making no impression, that in fact a riot was imminent. So he took some waters, washed his hands in front of the crowd and said, 'I am innocent of this man's blood. It is your concern.' And the people, to a man, shouted back. 'His blood be on us and on our children!' - Matt. 27:24-25 -

The important biblical concept in regard to blood is the spiritual significance of the blood of sacrificial animals. Although some scholars believe the blood primarily means the animal's life, most agree that blood refers to the animal's death. Most of the Old Testament passages that discuss sacrifices mention the death of the animal but not its life. The phrase 'flesh and blood' also means humanity.

If the one who sins is the anointed priest, thus, making the people guilty, then for the sin which he has committed he is to offer to Yahweh a young bull, an animal from the herd without blemish, as a sacrifice for sin. He is to bring the bull before Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, he is to lay his hand on its head and immolate it before Yahweh. Then the anointed priest must take a little of the blood of the bull and take it into the Tent of Meeting. He shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it over the veil of the sanctuary seven times, before Yahweh. Then the priest must put a little of the blood of the bull on the horns of the altar of incense that smokes before Yahweh in the Tent of Meeting and he is to pour all the rest of the bull's blood at the foot of the altar of holocaust at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. - Lev. 4:3-7 -

Since all the children share the same blood and flesh, Jesus too shared equally in it, so that by his death he could take away all the power of the devil, who had power over death, and set free all those who had been held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death. - Heb. 2:14-15 -

In the Old Testament, the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible makes it clear that the satisfaction or payment for human sins was made by the death of a specified animal substitute: For the life of the flesh is in the blood and God have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the souls.

If any man of the House of Israel or stranger living among you eats blood of any kind, I will set my face against the man who has eaten the blood and will outlaw him from his people. The life of the flesh is in the blood. This blood I myself have given you to perform the rite of atonement for your lives at the altar; for it is blood that atones for a life. That is why I have said to the sons of Israel: None of you nor any stranger living among you shall eat blood. - Lev. 17:10-12 -

In the New Testament, this Old Testament understanding of sacrifice is applied to Christ's blood. References to the 'blood of Christ' always mean the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross.

By apostle Paul: Although all have sinned, in whom, through his blood, we gain our freedom, the forgiveness of our sins. - Eph. 1:7 -

The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of the heifer are sprinkled on those who have incurred defilement and they restore the holiness of their outward lives; how much more effectively the blood of Christ who offered himself as the perfect sacrifice to God through the eternal Spirit, can purify our inner self from dead actions so that we do our service to the living God. - Heb. 9:13-14 -

By apostle Peter: Remember, the ransom that was paid to free you from the useless way of life your ancestors handed down was not paid in anything corruptible, neither in silver nor gold but in the precious blood of a lamb without spot or stain, namely Christ; who, though known since before the world was made, has been revealed only in our time, the end of the ages, for your sake. Through him you now have faith in God - so that you would have faith and hope in God. - 1Peter 1:18-21 -

By apostle John: Jesus Christ, who is just; he is the sacrifice that takes our sins away, and not only ours, but the whole world's. - 1John 1:2 -

God's love for us was revealed
when God sent into the world his only Son
so that we could have life through him;
this is the love I mean:
not our love for God,
but God's love for us when he sent his Son
to be the sacrifice that takes our sins away. - 1John 4:9-10 -

And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the First-born from the dead, the Ruler of the kings of the earth. He loves us and has washed away our sins with his blood, and made us a line of kings, priests to serve his God and Father; to him, then, be glory and power forever and ever. Amen. - Rev. 1:5-6 -

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!

I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.

HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-15 -

God bestows more consideration on the purity of intention with which our actions are performed than on the actions themselves - Saint August...
