Other abomination were sexual transgressions - Leviticus 18 - the adoption of the dress of the opposite sex, and the practice of magic, witchcraft, and 'spiritism.' - Deut. 18:9-12, 22:5 - Most of the Hebrew words translated 'abomination' have the meaning of 'impure', 'filthy', and 'unclean' - that which is foul smelling and objectionable to a holy God.
A despicable misuse of the Temple of the Lord during a time of great trouble refers to 'Abomination of Desolation' - an event foretold by the prophet Daniel. The phrase is found in the New Testament, in Matthew 24:15-16 and Mark 13:14 as a quotation from the book of Daniel 11:31 and 12:9-11. In Daniel, the words mean 'the abomination that makes desolate.' In other words, Daniel prophesied that the Temple would be used for an 'abominable' purpose at some time in the future.
As a result, God's faithful people would no longer worship there - so great would be their moral revulsion, contempt, and abhorrence at the sacrilege - and the Temple would become 'desolate.' According to the verses in the Gospels, a similar misuse of the Temple would take place in the future. This would show that a time of great trouble was coming on Judea. People should take warning and flee to the mountains.
Forces of his will come and profane the sanctuary citadel; they will abolish the perpetual sacrifice and install the disastrous abomination there. - Dan. 11:31 -
'Daniel' he said, 'go away: these words are to remain secret and sealed until the time of the End. Many will be cleansed, made white and purged; the wicked will go on doing wrong; the wicked will never understand; the learned will understand. From the moment that the perpetual sacrifice is abolished and the disastrous abomination erected: one thousand two hundred and ninety days. - Daniel 12:9-11 -
So when you see the disastrous abomination, of which the prophet Daniel spoke, set up in the Holy Place (let the reader understand) then those in Judaea must escape to the mountains. - Matt. 24:15-16 - Mark 13:14 -
Some believe Daniel's prophecy was fulfilled about 165 B.C. when Antiochus IV (Epiphanes) Greek ruler of Syria, polluted the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem by sacrificing a pig on the holy altar. This sacrificing of the Unclean pig was the worst kind of abomination that could have taken place. These people also believe the prophecy in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark was fulfilled when the Romans sacked the Jewish Temple about A.D. 70. But others believe just as strongly that neither of these prophecies has yet been completely fulfilled. They insist that the abomination of desolation refers to the idolatrous image or the 'man of sin' who will take over God's place in the Temple and make people bow down and worship him. According to this interpretation, this will be the final act of sacrilege that marks the beginning of the end time.
To turn now, brothers, to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we shall all be gathered round him: please do not get excited too soon or alarmed by any prediction or rumour or any letter claiming to come from us, implying that the Day of the Lord has already arrived. Never let anyone deceive you in this way.
It cannot happen until the Great Revolt has taken place and the Rebel, the Lost One, has appeared. This is the Enemy, the one who claims to be so much greater than all that men call 'god' so much greater than anything that is worshiped, that he enthrones himself in God's sanctuary and claims that he is God. Surely you remember me telling you about this when I was with you? And you know, too, what is still holding him back from appearing before his appointed time. Rebellion is at its work already, but in secret, and the one which is holding it back has first to be removed before the Rebel appears openly. The Lord will kill him with the breath of his mouth and will annihilate him with his glorious appearance at his coming.
But when the Rebel comes, Satan will set to work: there will be all kinds of miracles and a deceptive show of signs and portents, and everything evil that can deceive those who are bound for destruction because they would not grasp the love of the truth which could have saved them. The reason why God is sending a power to delude them and make them believe what is untrue is to condemn all who refused to believe in the truth and chose wickedness instead. - 2Thess. 2:1-12 -

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!
I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.
HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-15 -
