Cure of the woman with a haemorrhage. Jairus' daughter raised to life - Luke 8:40-56 - N. T. -

On his return Jesus was welcomed by the crowd ,for they were all there waiting for him. And now there came a man named Jairus, who was an official of the synagogue. He fell at Jesus' feet and pleaded with him to come to his house, because he had an only daughter about twelve years old, who was dying. And the crowds were almost stifling Jesus as he went.

Now there was a woman suffering from a haemorrhage for twelve years, whom no one had been able to cure. She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak; and the haemorrhage stopped at that instant. Jesus said, 'Who touched me?' When they all denied that they had, Peter and his companions said, 'Master, it is the crowds round you, pushing'. But Jesus said, 'Somebody touched me. I felt the power had gone out from me.' Seeing herself discovered, the woman came forward trembling, and falling at his feet explained in front of all the people why she had touched him and how she had been cured at that very moment. 'My daughter,' Jesus said 'your faith has restored you to health; go in peace.'

While he was still speaking someone arrived from the house of the synagogue official to say, 'Your daughter has died. Do not trouble the Master any further.' But Jesus had heard this, and he spoke to the man. 'Do not be afraid, only have faith and she will be safe'. When he came to the house he allowed no one to go in with him except Peter and John and James, and the child's father and mother.

They were all weeping and mourning for her, but Jesus said, 'Stop crying; she is not dead, but asleep'. But they laughed at him, knowing she was dead. But taking her by the hand he called to her, 'Child get up'. And her spirit returned and she got up at once. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.

Cf. - Matthew 9:18-26; Mark 5:21-43 - N. T. - While Jesus was speaking to them, up came one of the officials, who bowed low in front of him and said, 'My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and her life will be saved'. Jesus rose and, with his disciples, followed him.

Then from behind came a woman, who had suffered from a haemorrhage for twelve years, and she touched the fringe of his cloaks, for she said to herself, 'If I can only touch his cloak I shall be well again'. Jesus turned round and saw her; and he said to her, 'Courage, my daughter, your faith has restored you to health'. And from that moment the woman was well again.

When Jesus reached the official's house and saw the flute-players, with the crowd making a commotion he said, 'Get out of here; this little girl is not dead, she is asleep'. And they laughed at him. But when the people had been turned out Jesus went inside and took the little girl by the hand; and she stood up. And the news spread all round the countryside.

Cf. - Acts 19:11-12 - N. T. - So remarkable were the miracles worked by God at Paul's hands that handkerchiefs or aprons which had touched him were taken to the sick, and they were cured of their illnesses, and the evil spirits came out of them.

Cf. - Luke 5:17; 6:19 -

Cf. - Matthew 8:10 - N. T. - When Jesus heard this he was astonished and said to those following him, 'I tell you solemnly, nowhere in Israel have I found faith like this.

Cf. - Luke 9:28; 22:8 -

Cf. - John 13:24-25 - N. T. - Having said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and declared, 'I tell you most solemnly, one of you will betray me'. The disciples looked at one another, wondering which he meant. The disciple Jesus loved was reclining next to Jesus; Simon Peter signed to him [John] and said, 'Ask who it is he means', so leaning back on Jesus' breast he said, 'Who is it, Lord?'

Cf. - Acts 3:1 - N. T. - Once, when Peter and John were going up to the Temple for the prayers at the ninth hour, it happened that there was a man being carried past.

Cf. - Luke 1:12+ -

Cf. - Mark 1:34 - N. T. - Jesus cured many who were suffering from diseases of one kind or another; he also cast out many devils, but he would not allow them to speak, because they knew who he was.

How? And in what way, when it come to understanding matters: What I was always being told is: There are ways and preferences to comprehend all matters, whether it is of spirituality and unspirituality.

Firstly, in a literally manner: That is, used for emphasis or to express strong feeling while not being literally true.

Secondly, in a humanly manner: That is, from a human point of view, in a humanly manner, by human means; within ability; with human feeling or kindness.

Thirdly, in a spiritually manner: That is, in a way that relates to or affects the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.

Finally, in an unspiritual manner: That is, not spiritual. But secular and worldly.
