Philip baptises a eunuch - Acts 8:26-40 - N. T. -
The angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, 'Be ready to set out at noon along the road that goes from Jerusalem down to Gaza, the desert road'. So he set off on his journey. Now it happened that an Ethiopian had been on pilgrimage to Jerusalem; he was a eunuch and an officer at the court of the kandake, or queen, of Ethiopia, and was in fact her chief treasurer. He was now on his way home; and as he sat in his chariot he was reading the prophet Isaiah. The Spirit said to Philip, 'Go up and meet that chariot'. When Philip ran up, he heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, 'Do you understand what you are reading?' 'How can I' he replied 'unless I have someone to guide me?' So he invited Philip to get in and sit by his side. Now the passage of scripture he was reading was this:
Like a sheep that is led to the slaughter-house,
like a lamb that is dumb in front of its shearers,
like these he never opens his mouth.
He has been humiliated and has no one to defend him.
Who will ever talk about his descendants,
since his life on earth has been cut short!
The eunuch turned to Philip and said, 'Tell me, is the prophet referring to himself or someone else?' Starting, therefore, with this text of scripture Philip proceeded to explain the Good News of Jesus to him.
Further along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, 'Look, there is some water here; is there anything to stop me being baptised?' He ordered the chariot to stop, then Philip baptised him. But after they had come up out of the water again Philip was taken away by the Spirit of the Lord, and the eunuch never saw him again but went on his way rejoicing. Philip found that he had reached Azotus and continued his journey proclaiming the Good News in every town as far as Caesarea.
Cf. - Matthew 1:20-25 - N. T. - Joseph had made up his mind to do this when the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save his people from their sins.' Now all this took place to fulfil the words spoken by the Lord through the prophet: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and they will call him Immanuel, a name which means 'God-is-with-us'. When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord told him to do: he took his wife to his home and though he had not had intercourse with her, she gave birth to a son; and he named him Jesus.
Cf. - 1 Kings 8:41-43 - O. T. - And the foreigner too, not belonging to your people Israel, if he comes from a distant country for the sake of your name - for men will hear of your name, of your mighty hand and outstretched arm - if he comes and prays in this Temple, hear from heaven where your home is, and grant all the foreigner asks, so that all the peoples of the earth may come to know your name and, like your people Israel, revere you, and know that your name is given to the Temple I have built.
Cf. - Psalm 68:31 - O. T. - Ambassadors will come from Egypt, Ethiopia will stretch out her hands to God.
Cf. - Isaiah 56:3-7 - O. T. - Let no foreigner who has attached himself to Yahweh say, 'Yahweh will surely exclude me from his people'. Let no eunuch say, 'And I, I am a dried-up tree'. For Yahweh says this: To the eunuchs who observe my Sabbaths, and resolve to do what pleases me and cling to my covenant. I will give, in my house and within my walls, a monument and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall never be effaced.
Foreigners who have attached themselves to Yahweh to serve him and to love his name and be his servants - all who observe the Sabbath, not profaning it, and cling to my covenant - these I will bring to my holy mountain. I will make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their holocausts their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar, for my house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.
Cf. - Acts 1:8+ -
Cf. - Romans 10:14 - N. T. - But they will not ask his help unless they believe in him, and they will not believe in him unless they have heard of him, and they will not hear of him unless they get a preacher.
Cf. - Isaiah 53:7-8 - O. T. - Harshly dealt with, he bore it humbly, he never opened his mouth, like a lamb that is led to the slaughter-house, like a sheep that is dumb before its shearers never opening its mouth. By force and by law he was taken; would anyone plead his cause? Yes, he was torn away from the land of the living; for our faults struck down in death.
Cf. - Luke 18:31-34; 24:27 - N. T. - Then taking the Twelve aside Jesus said to them, 'Now we are going to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man is to come true. For he will be handed over to the pagans and will be mocked, maltreated and spat on, and when they have scourged him they will put him to death; and on the third day he will rise again.' But they could make nothing of this; what Jesus said was quite obscure to them, they had no idea what it meant.
Cf. - Acts 10:47; 16:33 -
Cf. - 1 Kings 18:12-15 - O. T. - But as soon as I leave you, the spirit of Yahweh will carry you away and I shall not know where; I shall come and tell Ahab; he will not be able to find you, and will kill me. Yet from his youth your servant has revered Yahweh. Has no one told my lord what I did when Jezebel butchered the prophets of Yahweh, how I hid a hundred of them in a cave, fifty at a time, and kept them provided with food and water? And now you say to me, "Go and tell your master: Elijah is here". Why, he will kill me! Elijah replied, 'As Yahweh Sabaoth lives, whom I serve, I shall present myself before him today!'
Cf. - Luke 24:31-32 - N. T. - And their eyes were opened and they recognised him; but he had vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, 'Did not our hearts burn within us as he talked to us on the road and explained the scriptures to us?'

'Why do you call Me, "Lord, Lord" and not do what I say?'
It is the Lord Jesus Christ that all the prophets bear this witness: that all who believe in Jesus will have their sins forgiven through his name. - Acts 10:43 -
How? And in what way, when it come to understanding matters: What I was always being told is: There are ways and preferences to comprehend all matters, whether it is of spirituality and unspirituality. Firstly, in a literally manner: That is, used for emphasis or to express strong feeling while not being literally true. Secondly, in a humanly manner: That is, from a human point of view, in a humanly manner, by human means; within ability; with human feeling and kindness. Thirdly, in a spiritually manner: That is, in a way that relates to or affects the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. Finally, in an unspiritual manner: That is, not spiritual. But secular, worldly and diabolical.
