4) Jesus was a light and fluffy New Age.
Well, yes, say some, Jesus did claim to be God. But He meant it in an Eastern or "New Age" way. He was merely asserting His "God consciousness" in an attempt to awaken this same consciousness in us. He was, in short, a guru to the Jewish people. When He says He is the Son of God, He means we are all children of God and, indeed, we are God ourselves if we but realize it.
It's an interesting thought, but it's not what Jesus said. On the contrary, He affirms that God is Lord of heaven and earth, not that He is heaven and earth. Indeed, He does not speak of God as identical with Creation; He speaks of Him in a thoroughly Jewish senses as Transcendent Creator, Judge and Father. - Matthew 19:4, 6:14-15 -
He does not tell His disciples they are parts of God; He plainly reminds them they are sinners in need of salvation who are, apart from Him alone, incapable of accomplishing that salvation or anything else. - John 15:5 - Far from affirming that He's OK and We're OK, He frequently tells us we are evil, but He is without sin; we are from below, but He is from above. - John 8:1-11; 8:23 -
He insists that the way to life is not by discovering our divinity but by putting our faith exclusively in Him.
Very well then, if the records are reliable they clearly show us a man who is neither merely nice, not a liar, nor insane, nor a New Age guru. Yet He still stands before us implacably asking, "Who do you say I am?" - Matthew 16:15 - And as He does so in an ever more insistent voice, we begin to feel the grip of C.S.Lewis' logic that...the historical difficulty of giving for the life, sayings and influence of Jesus any explanation that is not harder than the Christian explanation is very great.
The discrepancy between the depth and sanity and (let me add) shrewdness of his moral teaching and the rampant megalomania which must lie behind his theological teaching unless He is indeed God, has never been satisfactorily got over. (C.S.Lewis, Miracles)
Which leads us to only one conclusion:
Jesus is the Lord.

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!
I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.
HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-15 -
