Sacrament is a formal religious act in which the actions and materials used are the channels by which God's grace is communicated. It is an inner grace and an outward signs. The Eastern Orthodox usually refer to the sacraments of mysteries.

Roman Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox have seven sacraments. These sacraments are the actions of the Lord Jesus Christ, means of grace or channels through which God imparts spiritual blessedness.

THE SEVEN SACRAMENTS OF THE CHURCH.
1) The Sacrament of Baptism
2) The Sacrament of Confirmation
3) The Sacrament of the Eucharist
4) The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation
5) The Anointing of the Sick
6) The Sacrament of Holy Orders
7) The Sacrament of Matrimony

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission; "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word". - CCC 1213 -

Meanwhile the eleven disciples..........When they saw him they fell down before him.......He said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me, Go, therefore, make disciples of all the nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time'. - Matt. 28:16-20 -

Does it follow that we should remain in sin...........You have been taught that when we were baptised in Christ Jesus we were baptised in his death; in other words, when we were baptised we went into the tomb with him and joined him in death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the Father's glory, we too might live a new life.
If in union with Christ....................When a man dies, of course, he has finished with sin.
But..........Christ, as we know, having been raised from dead will never die again...........you too must consider yourselves to be dead to sin but alive for God in Christ Jesus. - Rom. 6:1-11 -

You have been buried with him, when you were baptised; and by baptism too, you have been raised up with him through your belief in the power of God who raised him from the dead. - Col. 2:12 -

But when the kindness and love of God our saviour for mankind were revealed,......it was for no reason except his own compassion that he saved us, by means of the cleansing water of rebirth and by renewing us with the Holy Spirit.............This is the doctrine that you can rely on. - Titus 3:4-8 -

And for anyone who is in Christ, there is a new creation; the old creation has gone, and now the new one is here. - 2Cor. 5:17 -

It does not matter if a person is circumcised or not; what matters is for him to become an altogether new creature. - Gal. 6:15 -

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!

I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.

HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-15 -
