Jesus did not work miracles to prove His messiah-ship. In fact, He clearly refused to work miracles as proofs. - Matt. 12:38-42; Luke 11:29-32 - His death was the proof. However, Jesus' miracles do give evidence that He was divine, that he was the Son of God, the Messiah.
The Acts of the Apostles is a book of miracles. Again, these miracles are a continuation of the miracles of Jesus, made possible through the Holy Spirit. The miracles of the apostles were done in the name of Jesus and were manifestations of God's salvation. This thread of continuity is seen in Peter's miracles which paralleled those of Jesus. - Acts 3:1-16, 9:32-42; Luke 5:18-26, 7:22, 8:49-56 -
God began His Church with a powerful display of miracles. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came on the people with great power, leading to conversions. When Philip went to Samaria, the Spirit of God anointed him with power , and the same happened with Peter and Cornelius. These powerful wonders were designed to convince the apostles and the stunning act of God through Peter when Ananias and Sapphira acted in hypocrisy, the Church power in prayer and Paul's transforming vision. - The Acts of the Apostles -
Miraculous powers were also present in the apostles. Peter healed a lame man, a paralytic and raised the dead. The apostles performed mighty miracles and Peter was miraculously released from prison. Paul's conversion was a startling incident. Ability to work miracles was taken as a sign for apostleship by Paul. Thus, this ability to work miracles is not only an expression of God's salvation but also God's way of authenticating His apostles.
The reason why I have written to you and put some things rather strongly, is to refresh your memories, since God has given me this special position. He has appointed me as a priest of Jesus Christ, and I am to carry out my priestly duty by bringing the Good News from God to the pagans and so make them acceptable as an offering, made holy by the Holy Spirit.
I think I have some reason to be proud of what I, in union with Christ Jesus have been able to do for God. What I am presuming to speak of, of course, is only what Christ himself has done to win the allegiance of the pagans, using what I have said and done by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Holy Spirit. - Rom. 15:15-19 -
You have seen done among you all the things that mark the true apostle, unfailingly produced: the signs, the marvels, the miracles. - 2Cor. 12:12 -

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!
I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.
HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-15 -
