Numerous commands in the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible imply that believers also have a responsibility in the process of sanctification. We are commanded to "be holy" to "be perfect" and to "present yourself as slaves of righteousness for holiness". The apostle Paul made a strong plea for purity. "This is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality: that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God".

For it is I, Yahweh, who am your God. You have been sanctified and have become holy because I am holy: do not defile yourself with all these beasts that crawl on the ground. Yes, it is I, Yahweh, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God: you therefore must be holy because I am holy. - Lev. 11:44-45 -

Do not behave in the way that you liked to before you learnt the truth: make a habit of obedience: be holy in all you do since it is the Holy One who has called you and scripture says: Be holy, for I am holy. - 1Pet. 1:14-16 -

Even pagans do as much, do they not? you must therefore be perfect just as your heavenly Father is perfect. - Matt. 5:48 -

If I may use human terms to help your natural weakness: as once you put your bodies at the service of vice and immorality, so now you must put them at the service of righteouness for your sanctification. - Rom. 6:19 -

What God wants is for you all to be holy. He wants you to keep away from fornication and each one of you to know how to use the body that belongs to him in a way that is holy and honourable, not giving way to selfish lust like the pagans who do not know God. - 1Thess. 4:3-5 -

These commands imply effort on our part. We must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, since we are "sanctified by faith and love in Him". Through the Holy Spirit we must also "put to death the evil deeds of the body". Apostle Paul itemized the many "works of the flesh" from which we must separate ourselves. Finally, we must walk in the Spirit in order to display the fruit of the Spirit.

I shall deliver you from the people and from the pagans to whom I am sending you to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light from the dominion of Satan to God, and receive, through faith in me, forgiveness of their sins and a share in the inheritance of the sanctified. - Acts 26:17-18 -

Let me put it like this: if you are guided by the Spirit you will be in no danger of yielding to self-indulgence since self-indulgence is the opposite of the Spirit,............What the Spirit brings is very different: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control. There can be no law against things like that, of course. You cannot belong to Christ Jesus unless you crucify all self-indulgent passions and desires.
Since the Spirit is our life, let us be directed by the Spirit. We must stop being conceited, provacative and envious. - Gal. 5: 16-26 -

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!

I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.

HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-15 -

God bestows more consideration on the purity of intention with which our actions are performed than on the actions themselves - Saint August...
