Peace be with you - When we read the Holy Bible/Sacred Scripture - Exodus 16:1-8 - The manna and the quails - The Wilderness of Sin - From Elim they set out again and the whole of community of the sons of Israel and reached the wilderness of Sin - between Elim and Sinai - on the fifteen day of the second month after they had left Egypt. The whole community of the sons of Israel began to complain against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness and said to them: 'Why did we not die at Yahweh's hands in the land of Egypt when we were able to sit down to pans of meals and could eat bread to our heart's content! As it is, You have brought us to this wilderness to starve this whole company to death?'
Then Yahweh said to Moses, 'Now I will rain down bread for you from the heavens. Each day the people are to go out and gather the day's portion: I propose to test them in this way to see whether they follow my law or not. On the sixth day, when they prepare what they have brought in, this will be twice as much as the daily gathering.'
Moses and Aaron said to the whole community of the sons of Israel. 'In the evening you shall learn that it was Yahweh who brought you out of the land of Egypt and in the morning shall see the glory of Yahweh, for he has heard your complaints against him - it is not against us you complaint, for what are we?' Moses said, 'In the evening Yahweh will give you meat to eat, in the morning bread to your heart's content, for Yahweh has heard the complaints that you made against Him; your complaining is not against us - for what are we? - but against Yahweh'.
As for the origin of sin, the Old Testament writings have to say about the matter, the story in Genesis 3:1-24 - being the passage to speak directly to this issue. Sin - which is in opposition to God's benevolent purposes for His creation. Sin is an ever-present reality that enslaves the human race and has corrupted God, the Almighty, created order. The concept of sin is first and foremost a religious concept because all sin is ultimately against God, God's laws, God's creation, God's covenant and God's purposes. These are the basic corrupting agent in the entire universe/world. From this basic understanding derive most of the many different manifestation of sins. - Matthew 12:22-32; 25:31-46; 23 - Luke 12:8-10; 19:12-26; Acts 5:1-11 - 1 John 5:16-17 - These are the few listed examples.
Since 'Sin' is such an integral feature of human experience and as for the origin of sin - Genesis 3 -However, the enslavement of sin is something from which the human race cannot extricate itself by it own efforts. New relationship between God and the people such that all people could somehow learn about and enter into the proper divine - that is, human relationship through the New Covenant in Christ Jesus. Through the Lord Jesus Christ, the Kingdom of God has been proclaimed and inaugurated, sinners have been forgiven and reconciled to God. This is to be accomplished through the work of God in Christ Jesus to eliminated the enslaving power of sin and liberate human beings from its sway. AMEN!
Let me put it like this: if you are guided by the Holy Spirit you will be in no danger of yielding to self-indulgence, since self-indulgence is the opposite of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is totally against such a thing and it is precisely because the two are so opposed that you do not always carry out your good intentions. If you are led by the Holy Spirit, no law can touch you. When self-indulgence is at work the results are obvious: fornication, gross indecency and sexual irresponsibility; idolatry and sorcery; feuds and wrangling, jealousy, bad temper and quarrels; disagreements, factions, envy; drunkenness, orgies and similar things. I warn you now, as I warned you before: those who behave like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. What the God's/Spirit brings is very different: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control. There can be no law against things like that, of course. You cannot belong to Christ Jesus unless you crucify all self-indulgent passions and desires.
Since the Holy Spirit is our life, let us be directed by the Holy Spirit. We must stop being conceited, provocative and envious. - Galatians 5:16-26 - Amen! Amen!
