We live in a pluralistic society, one in which a wide variety of religious expressions is the norm. In such society, many believe that all paths lead to God; that one religion is as good as another.

This would be true if all "paths" were merely man-made. And, if all religions were created by men, it would be arrogant to claim that one path is truer than another. But what if a particular path was not of merely human origin? What if one path was given to us directly by God?

Both history and God's Word - the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible and Sacred Tradition - have revealed that one person among all others was unique. His name was Jesus Christ. Through His preaching and miracles, Jesus showed that He was indeed the Messiah, the eternal Word of God who, at a specific time in human history, became flesh and dwelt among us.

And He claimed to be God. That is a claim that has to be dealt with somehow. It cannot simply be ignored. That is why the central question in the Gospels is the question Jesus Himself put to His disciples: "Who do you say I am?" The case for Christ rests on the various claims people have made in response to that question. For there are only five possibilities, and they all start with the letter "L."

Jesus was either:
1) a legend -- that is, He never really existed; the New Testament is just a fable.

2) a liar -- in effect, He didn't really mean the things He said. He was simply trying to pull a fast one on the people for personal gain.

3) a lunatic -- that is, His claims to be God were merely the ranting of a crazy mind.

4) a light and fluffy New Ager -- that is, He was trying to tell us we are all gods.

5) the Lord -- He was who He claimed to be: the Son of God, God incarnate.

Now, let's us examine each of these possibilities:

1) Jesus was just a legend............

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!

I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.

HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-25 -

God bestows more consideration on the purity of intention with which our actions are performed than on the actions themselves - Saint August...
