1) Jesus was just a legend.
The problem with calling Jesus a "legend" is that no reputable historian in the world say Jesus never existed. We know when the documents of the New Testament were written. As most of the New Testament was written when the eyewitnesses to the events of Jesus' life, death and resurrection were still alive. And the telling thing about not only the authors, but also the people who preserved their writings over the centuries, is how little interest they seem to have had in "adjusting" history in order to create a legend.
Think about it: If the apostles were enthusiasts who just got a bit excited and mistook their rabbi for God, then why do the Gospel accounts show the disciples to be slow to understand His message and put their faith in Him?
Clearly we are looking at neither theological rocket scientists nor overly spiritual hysterics. In fact, the biblical documents continually paint a picture of the apostles as men who were a little slow on the uptake, as rather typically ambitious, and as cowards who abandoned the one they loved at the moment of His supreme crisis. - Mark 14:50 - It's highly unlikely that these men "puffed up" the story of Jesus for their own personal gain.
Think about it: If you wanted to start your own new religious movement - touting the wonders of your leader in a negative light?
Followers who are trying to burnish the historical record and turn a mere human rabbi into a god would not be likely to carefully preserve Christ's last words: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" - Matt.27:46; Mark 15:34 -
Nor would they allow the editing scissors to miss quotes such as: "Why do you call me good?" said Jesus, 'No one is good - except God alone'. - Mark 10:18 - "He could not do many miracles there, except lay hands on a few sick people and heal them" - Mark 6:5 - and "Who touched me?". - Luke 8:45 - Such quotes appear, at first glance, to bear witness to Jesus' imperfection, weakness and ignorance - not what you want when you are inventing a god.
So if people who wrote (and preserved) the Gospels were not religious maniacs, cultists, liars, fact-fudgers, or historical revisionists, what were they? How about "honest men"?
And these honest men tell us something astonishing: Jesus claimed to be God.

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!
I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.
HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-15 -
