1) Jesus was just a legend.

The problem with calling Jesus a "legend" is that no reputable historian in the world say Jesus never existed. We know when the documents of the New Testament were written. As most of the New Testament was written when the eyewitnesses to the events of Jesus' life, death and resurrection were still alive. And the telling thing about not only the authors, but also the people who preserved their writings over the centuries, is how little interest they seem to have had in "adjusting" history in order to create a legend.

Think about it: If the apostles were enthusiasts who just got a bit excited and mistook their rabbi for God, then why do the Gospel accounts show the disciples to be slow to understand His message and put their faith in Him?

Clearly we are looking at neither theological rocket scientists nor overly spiritual hysterics. In fact, the biblical documents continually paint a picture of the apostles as men who were a little slow on the uptake, as rather typically ambitious, and as cowards who abandoned the one they loved at the moment of His supreme crisis. - Mark 14:50 - It's highly unlikely that these men "puffed up" the story of Jesus for their own personal gain.

Think about it: If you wanted to start your own new religious movement - touting the wonders of your leader in a negative light?

Followers who are trying to burnish the historical record and turn a mere human rabbi into a god would not be likely to carefully preserve Christ's last words: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" - Matt.27:46; Mark 15:34 -

Nor would they allow the editing scissors to miss quotes such as: "Why do you call me good?" said Jesus, 'No one is good - except God alone'. - Mark 10:18 - "He could not do many miracles there, except lay hands on a few sick people and heal them" - Mark 6:5 - and "Who touched me?". - Luke 8:45 - Such quotes appear, at first glance, to bear witness to Jesus' imperfection, weakness and ignorance - not what you want when you are inventing a god.

So if people who wrote (and preserved) the Gospels were not religious maniacs, cultists, liars, fact-fudgers, or historical revisionists, what were they? How about "honest men"?

And these honest men tell us something astonishing: Jesus claimed to be God.

2) Jesus was a........

I have through years of reading, pondering, reflecting and contemplating, the 3 things that last; FAITH . HOPE . LOVE and I would like to made available my sharing from the many thinkers, authors, scholars and theologians whose ideas and thoughts I have borrowed. God be with them always. Amen!

I STILL HAVE MANY THINGS TO SAY TO YOU BUT THEY WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR YOU NOW. BUT WHEN THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH COMES, HE WILL LEAD YOU TO THE COMPLETE TRUTH, SINCE HE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING AS FROM HIMSELF, BUT WILL SAY ONLY WHAT HE HAS LEARNT; AND HE WILL TELL YOU OF THE THINGS TO COME.

HE WILL GLORIFY ME, SINCE ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. EVERYTHING THE FATHER HAS IS MINE; THAT IS WHY I SAID: ALL HE TELLS YOU WILL BE TAKEN FROM WHAT IS MINE. - JOHN 16:12-15 -

We live in a pluralistic society, one in which a wide variety of religious expressions is the norm. In such society, many believe that all paths lead to God; that one religion is as good as another.

This would be true if all "paths" were merely man-made. And, if all religions were created by men, it would be arrogant to claim that one path is truer than another. But what if a particular path was not of merely human origin? What if one path was given to us directly by God?

Both history and God's Word - the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible and Sacred Tradition - have revealed that one person among all others was unique. His name was Jesus Christ. Through His preaching and miracles, Jesus showed that He was indeed the Messiah, the eternal Word of God who, at a specific time in human history, became flesh and dwelt among us.

And He claimed to be God. That is a claim that has to be dealt with somehow. It cannot simply be ignored. That is why the central question in the Gospels is the question Jesus Himself put to His disciples: "Who do you say I am?" The case for Christ rests on the various claims people have made in response to that question. For there are only five possibilities, and they all start with the letter "L."

Jesus was either:
1) a legend -- that is, He never really existed; the New Testament is just a fable.

2) a liar -- in effect, He didn't really mean the things He said. He was simply trying to pull a fast one on the people for personal gain.

3) a lunatic -- that is, His claims to be God were merely the ranting of a crazy mind.

4) a light and fluffy New Ager -- that is, He was trying to tell us we are all gods.

5) the Lord -- He was who He claimed to be: the Son of God, God incarnate.

Now, let's us examine each of these possibilities:

1) Jesus was just a legend............

Examination of Consciousness is primarily a time of prayers, it is a "being with God."

Discernment presupposes an ability to reflect on the ordinary events of one's life, a habit of personal prayer, self-knowledge of one's deepest desires and openness to God's direction and guidance. Discernment is a prayerful "pondering" or "mulling over" the choices a person wishes to consider. In his discernment, the person's focus should be on a quiet attentiveness to God and sensing rather than thinking. His goal is to understand the choices in his heart to see them, as it were, as God might see them.

In one sense, there is no limit to how long he might wish to continue in this. Discernment is a repetitive process, yet as the person continues, some choices should of their own accord fall by the wayside while others should gain clarity and focus. It is a process that should move inexorably toward a decision.

Discerning of Spirits -- a gift of the Holy Spirit which enables a person to judge whether one does so by the power of the Holy Spirit or by a false spirit.

The apostle Paul confirmed that a person led by the Holy Spirit will concentrate on those which will grow to benefit the community and be concerned for those things which strengthen the Church. So, my dear brothers, what is to be drawn? At.......,but it must always be for the common good. - 1Cor. 14:12, 26 -

SAINTS -- people who have been separated from the world and consecrated to the worship and service of the Lord are referred to by the phrase throughout the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible, although its meaning is developed more fully in the New Testament.

Consecration (setting apart) and purity are the basic meanings of the term. Believers are called "saints" - Rom. 1:7 - and "saints in Christ Jesus" - Phil. 1:1 - because they belong to the One who provided their sanctification.

When Christ returns, the saints will be clothed in the "righteous acts" - Rev. 19:8 - because they will have continued to live in faith and love through God's power - 1Sam. 2:9 - and Christ's praying for them. And God who knows everything in our hearts knows perfectly well what he means and that the pleas of the saints expressed by the Spirit are according to the mind of God. - Rom. 8:27 -

The saints are also those to whom the privilege of revelation, the message which was a mystery hidden for generations and centuries and now been revealed to his saints. - Col. 1:26; Jude 3 - and the task of ministry are committed.

And to some, his gift was that they should be apostles; to some, prophets; to some, evangelists; to some, pastors and teachers, so that the saints together make a unity in the work of service, building up the body of Christ. In this way we are all come to unity in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God, until we become the perfect Man, fully mature with the fullness of Christ himself. - Eph. 4:11-13 -

Saintly life is a call and challenge for every human being to respond according to the signs of time. It is a life with total commitment to God and people.

Saints are persons who have deeply encountered and experienced the presence of God in themselves, others and the world around. They always live in the presence of God and that would be the foundational experience for all their activities.

Saints are persons who live a prophetic life. Their prophetic dimension of courage and heretical stand come from their deep communion with God.

Saints are our source of inspiration and hope, and sainthood is for everyone.

CHRISTIANITY -- the Christian religion based on the Lord Jesus Christ, the only Saviour and Mediator between God the Father and sinful peoples.

Christianity is unique among all the religions of the world. Most of them emphasize the life of the founder but Christianity is based on the Passion, the Death, the Resurrection, and the Ascension of Jesus Christ. The death of Jesus is unique for it was prophesied in the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible and came to pass in the New Testament age thousands of years later.

Not only is the death of Christ absolutely essential to Christianity. So is His Passion and His Resurrection, are so important that all four gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John - devote two-fifth of their teachings to this combined subject. - Mark 10:45 - summarizes this unique mission of Christ's: "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and give His life a ransom for many".

The world already had plenty of religions and gods at the time of Jesus' birth. The Romans had combined their gods with those of the Greeks and thousands of deities were worshiped. None of these gods had ever lived, most were based on imagination or heroic stories. But Jesus had actually lived in Palestine, had been crucified under Pontius Pilate (the Roman governor of Judea) and had been raised from the dead by the power of God the Father.

People who worshiped the mythical gods actually chose to ignore the visible signs of truth that pointed them towards God and eventually to salvation through grace. Even since God created the world his everlasting power - however invisible - have been there for the mind to see in the things he has made. That is why such people are without excuse; they knew God and yet refused to honour him as God or to thank him; instead, they made nonsense out of logic and their empty minds were darkened. - Rom. 1:20-21 -

This plan of salvation came to full maturity on the Cross.

Christianity is a Creed, a Religion and it is a Way of life who accept Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour.

New Testament worship was characterized by a joy and thanksgiving because God's gracious redemption in Christ. This early Christian worship focused on God's saving work in Jesus Christ. True worship was that which occurred under inspiration of God's Spirit.

The Lord Jesus Christ said:
Believe me, woman, the hour is coming
when you will worship the Father
neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
You worship what you do not know;
we worship what we know;
for salvation comes from the Jews.

But the hour will come - in fact it is here already -
when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth;
that is the kind of worshipper
the Father wants.
God is spirit,
and those who worship
must worship in spirit and truth.

The woman said to him, 'I know that Messiah - that is, Christ - is coming and when he comes he will tell us everything'. 'I who am speaking to you', said the Lord Jesus 'I am He'. - John 4:21-26 - Phil. 3:3 -

The Jewish Sabbath was quickly replaced by the first day of the week as the time for weekly public worship, - Acts 20:7; 1Cor. 16:2 - it was called the Lord's Day - Rev. 1:10 - This was the occasion for celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, since He arose on the first day of the week. - Mark 16:2 -

At first worship were conducted in private houses. Possibly for a time the first Christians worshiped in the synagogues as well as private homes. Some scholars believe the Jewish Christians would go to the synagogues on Saturday and to their own meeting on Sunday.

Many early Christians of Jewish background continued to follow the law and customs of their people. They observed the Sabbath and the Jewish holy days, such as the great annual festivals. However, the apostle Paul held himself free from any obligation to these and never laid an obligation to observe them on his converts. - 1Cor. 2:16 -

As scripture says; Who can know the mind of the Lord, so who can teach him? But we are those who have the mind of Christ.

These remained faithful to the teaching of the apostles, to the brotherhood, to the breaking of bread and to the prayers. - Acts 2:42 -

'AS CHURCH IN FAITHFULNESS TO CHRIST'

Worship is a reverent devotion and allegiance pledged to God; the rituals or ceremonies by which this reverence is expressed.

In the Old Testament times Abraham built altars to the Lord and called on His name. This worship of God required no elaborate priesthood or ritual. After God's appearance to Moses and the deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, the foundations of Israelite ritual were laid. This worship took place in the light of history, especially the Exodus of the Hebrew people from Egypt. Through Moses, God established the form and principles of Israelite worship. - Ex. 25-31, 35-40 -

After the occupation of the Promised Land, Israel's exposure to Canaanite worship affected the nation's own worship. The Old Testament reveals clearly that Israel adopted some of the practices of the pagan people around them. At various times God's people lapsed into idolatry. Some idols were placed on pedestals and sometimes they were adorned or fastened with silver chains or fastened with pegs lest they totter and fall. - Is. 40:19, 41:7 -

Shrines and altars were sometimes erected to these pagan gods. But such idolatry was condemned by God and His special spokesmen, the PROPHETS of the Old Testament.

New Testament worship was characterized by a joy and thanksgiving ....
